I love taking advantage of after-Christmas sales to get some really great buys. Whether you’re shopping for Christmas-themed goods or stocking up on things you will need over the next year, you can certainly save money by shopping the week after Christmas. Check out these things you can expect to find on sale:
Toys – Those toys that retailers were hoping would be “the toy” of this holiday season are going to be much cheaper once Christmas has passed. I always buy a supply of toys that are appropriate for boys and girls to keep on hand for birthday parties in the year to come. When my little ones are invited to a party, I simply go to my toy supply to select a gift.
Decorations – Did you have your eye on a pair of lighted topiaries for the front porch? Maybe you have been longing to buy a set of coordinated Christmas stockings to adorn your family’s mantel. If any of these sound familiar to you, you should definitely plan to hit the after-Christmas sales. They present the perfect opportunity to pick up the holiday décor items you coveted throughout the holiday season at a price that won’t destroy your budget.
Winter Clothes – Sweaters, coats, and winter boots will all be offered at greatly-discounted prices after the holiday has passed. I try to put off any winter shopping for myself until this time of year. I also plan to purchase clothes that will fit the kids next year now.
Jewelry – Like toys for grownups, jewelry can be found at great prices at department stores like Macy’s and discount stores like TJ Maxx. Last year, I picked up a nice watch for my husband’s birthday with a discount of 50%. Although his birthday isn’t until a few months later in the year, I purchased it in December and put it away until the big day. By shopping at sales like these I can get him a great gift without spending more than the amount we’ve agreed to spend on each other.
