0% Balance Transfer for 9 Months

0% Balance Transfer for 9 Months

In a world where credit card companies are scrambling to find new ways of cashing in on consumers, Citibank has decided to increase their intro offer on purchases and balance transfers from up to six months to up to nine months on their Platinum Select MasterCard.  While three months doesn’t sound like much, if you are planning to move a big balance over, or make a large purchase, having three more months of interest free payments is quite the bonus.

It’s strange to see Citibank move in this direction because they recently announced fees on their previously free checking accounts and are expected to cut a few other amenities while Congress speeds up the new Credit Card rules.  While the Citi Platinum Select MasterCard does not provide the 12 month interest free offer that the Discover American Flag or Chase Slate cards have, it’s still nice to see Citibank work its way to the top.
