If you're knee deep in debt, cannot pay your bills and wish to avoid collection calls, you may consider debt settlement..

Buying food in bulk is a powerful way to cut your grocery expenses. Bulk-sized packages are often much cheaper by the unit than the more average-sized packages that you usually see in grocery stores. You can get everything you need at a much lower price.

You do need to know a few tips to make buying in bulk work for you. Here are some tips everyone who shops in bulk should know.

Check out the “per unit” price. Not every bulk-sized item is really cheaper. You have to do the math to determine how the different prices compare to each other. Get down to a price per ounce or serving to see which package is really the best deal.
Buy foods you’ll really eat. Don’t fall into the trap of buying foods simply because they’re cheap. If the kids aren’t going to eat that “weird” flavored granola bar, you won’t save money by buying them in bulk. You’ll just end up wasting money on a case of granola bars that will go stale in the pantry. Focus on finding bulk-sized packages of the foods your family already eats.

Buy foods that you can store. The last thing you want to do is buy a six-month supply of hamburger patties only to find that you don’t have room in the freezer for them. Take stock of your storage space so you know what will fit into your pantry before you shop.

Share with another family. When my husband and I were first married, we didn’t use enough of anything to justify making a lot of bulk purchases. After all, we were only shopping for the two of us. Fortunately, I had a girlfriend who was in the same predicament. We did our shopping together, split the bill, and still got to enjoy the benefits of buying in bulk.

Use a shopping list. When shopping at warehouse centers for bulk items, you need a shopping list more than ever. The aisles at those stores are filled with products that seem like a great idea when you see them, but aren’t necessarily practical purchases. A shopping list will help you stay on track and avoid those impulse purchases.
